The Longline Centennials Project has been underway over the past year, under the umbrella of The Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle and with the support of several organizations, including 4-Culture, Whole Foods, the Fishing Vessel Owners' Association, and others. The project has included research, photography, and oral history interviews.
In the end, like any good story, it is deeply rooted in people and place. Longtime fishermen, shipwrights and historic working vessels give meaning to imagery and words. The work is currently presented at The Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle, and will eventually be compiled in a comprehensive document cataloguing the historic vessels of the Seattle's longline fleet both past and present.
