There’s something about boats.

They have their own force fields, and personalities. And I am very suspicious that they choose people. They most certainly draw people into their stories. For over 15 years now I have been photographing, documenting, and collecting stories around boats and fishing. My forthcoming book, The Shape of a Vessel, tells the story of the maritime Pacific Northwest through some of the region’s most iconic working vessels — the halibut schooners.

And yes, a boat has found me as well. But that’s another story…
